Welcoming a Bengal Kitten HOME

Bringing Your New Bengal Cat Home _

Welcoming a new Bengal kitten into your family may be a thrilling experience. But, before your new furry buddy comes in his new home, there are a few things you should know to ensure that this new adventure is a positive one for both you and your kitten.

STEP 1 : BE PREPARED FOR THE BENGAL KITTEN’S ARRIVAL

As soon as your new Bengal cat comes, we recommend putting him in a small, tranquil, and stress-free area. Before bringing your cat home, make sure you ‘kitty-proof’ the room. He will require the following items in this room:

  • Water
  • Toys
  • A secure place to hide (his pet crate or a box with a blanket inside for example. Cats love hiding and comfort!)
  • Litterbox (uncovered box (at first) with clumping litter)
  • Scratching post
  • Make sure his food is ready to serve on arrival (thaw raw or dry kibble). We give local raw meat meals twice a day to most of our kittens. You may find many different brands in a pet store near you or online. When we feed raw, we mix the  meals with a little bit of water and may sometimes add some wet food (about 20%) to make it all tastier. You can integrate the dry food gradually afterward (if the kitten is on a raw diet only). If you immediately give dry food without transition, there is a good chance that your kitten will develop diarrhea. More info on the diet of the Bengal cat and the raw meat we give

You can lessen stress caused by relocating or traveling by isolating your kitten in a quiet area. Allow him to adjust to his new surroundings, odors, and so on. Acclimatization often takes a few days. It is usual for your new Bengal kitten to meow for the first two days. There must be no interaction between the resident cats and the new kitten during this time. Keeping him in a limited space also means not allowing him to urinate or defecate outside of the litterbox.

STEP 2 : MAKE EVERY MOMENT WITH HIM THE BEST MOMENT OF HIS DAY

As your new Bengal cat adjusts to his new surroundings, you will have the opportunity to meet and get to know him. Your kitten may feel lonely in the beginning, therefore your aim will be to make every minute of his day the best it can be. Introduce several games that you can play with him, such as a feather stick. This toy is completely adored by Bengal cats. Give your new Bengal kitten all of your attention and affection. Petting and having him purr can rapidly make him feel more at ease.

Please do not speed through step 2. Respect your new Bengal kitty and let him to approach you. This will strengthen your bond with one another. When he is ready, your new Bengal companion will approach you. Also, be cool whenever you visit his room. If you have small children, make sure they are always calm and courteous. Avoid as many unexpected movements and yells as possible.

It might take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to reach the bonding stage. Each kitten or cat is unique. Some will take longer to adjust, while others will settle in as if nothing had occurred. Before you take your Bengal cat out of his chamber, make sure he is entirely at ease with you.

STEP 3 : EXPLORING THE SURROUNDINGS

Once you’ve established a trusting bond with your new kitten, you can let him out of his chamber for a brief visit. He’ll probably be terrified at first, so take it slow and show him one room at a time.

Bring your Bengal back to his modest chamber after each finding for the first few days. Keep an eye on him as he comes out to avoid any undesirable behavior. When you sleep or leave for work, make sure he returns to his room. This procedure must take its time. If your Bengal kitten feels at ease in the house, finds his litterbox, and does not hide whenever he hears a sound, he is ready to leave his room and enjoy his new loving family.

If you rush through step 3, your cat will almost certainly miss the litterbox.

STEP 4 : MAKING YOUR HOME THE CAT’S HOME

It is critical to provide a safe, pleasant, and intriguing environment for your Bengal cat. Here are some ideas to make both of you happy:

Scratching Post: Because all of our Bengal kittens and cats leave our house with their claws, make sure to surround your cat’s living space with scratching posts and cat trees. This will keep him from scratching your furniture or other valuables. Before they left, all of our Bengals learnt to scratch on a scratching post. They’ve had access to them since they were born.

Litterbox: You may require more than one litterbox depending on the size of your Bengal’s habitat. If you have a large house, your pet may have difficulty finding his box. Make sure you have at least one on each level and show him where they are.

*Keep in mind: Place the litterboxes away from loud locations, such as the laundry room. Because of the stress created by a loud noise when using the litterbox, the kitten or cat may be scared and develop undesired behaviors. We use clumping litter in uncovered litterboxes.

Cat Exercise Wheel: Some Bengal cats have a lot of energy to expend over the day, and their typical toys don’t always allow them to do so. Keep your Bengal cat happy and healthy.

STEP 5 : INTRODUCING YOUR BENGAL KITTEN TO YOUR OTHER PETS

You may be eager to introduce your new Bengal to your other four-legged family members, but this step will take time and patience.

STEP 6 : ENJOYING YOUR NEW LIFE COMPANION!

The last stage in bringing a Bengal kitten into your house is most likely the most thrilling! Now is the time to really appreciate your new furry buddy and offer him all the attention, love, and devotion he need. For many years to come, your new friend will provide you with innumerable wonderful moments, joy, and affection.

Many congratulations!
